The Handicrafts Directorate at Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority (BTEA) held a graduation ceremony for participants in the Silver Crafting – Level 1 Workshop on Sunday 5th May 2019 at Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre; the workshops come in line with BTEA’s ongoing efforts to preserve the traditional Bahraini handicrafts industry.
The training course, which was held from April 7th until April 30th, 2019 for a period of 60 hours, was conducted by Sharifa Al Doserri; and aimed to develop basic silver and jewelry crafting skills for 11 trainees and encourage them to practice the traditional crafts with the ultimate goal of becoming professional instructors.
On this occasion, Head of Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre, Mr. Yasser Yousif Al Sayyed said, “We are delighted to host the Silver Crafting – Level 1 workshop which has enjoyed a history of success and a great turnout since we launched the workshop, and would like to thank all the participants and the instructor Sharifa Al Doseri for her efforts. We look forward to hosting similar workshops focusing on different Bahraini traditional crafts in the future.”
The workshop comes as part of a series of workshops and training courses held by BTEA throughout the year, with an aim to preserve Bahrain’s traditional handicrafts and industries for future generations.
